Café Nicola, Lisbon
Frequented by writers, artists and politicians, Café Nicola is an historic café in downtown Lisbon. Founded in 1787 by the Italian Nicola Breteiro, Botequim Nicola gained its definitive name in 1929, when it was installed in the current building in Rossio. The unmistakable façade designed by the architect Norte Júnior, the statue of the poet Bocage sculpted by Marcelino de Almeida and the oil paintings by Fernando Santos date from that time.
