Located in East Sussex, England, Bodiam Castle was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge as a response to potential French invasion during the Hundred Years' War. Its design features a quadrangular layout surrounded by a moat, showcasing a blend of military and aesthetic architecture. The castle served as a residence for the Dalyngrigge family and others throughout the 15th century but fell into disrepair by the 16th century as its military importance waned. In the 19th century, it attracted romantic artists and writers, leading to its acquisition by the National Trust in 1925.
