 Vereda da Lagoa do Vento (PR 6.3) - Madeira Island

Starting around 200 meters from Casa de Abrigo do Rabaçal, the path appears next to the path that connects to Estrada Regional no. 105. It is a route that will take you to a place of unusual beauty.

Located in a transition zone between the high-altitude heather and the Laurissilva forest, the richness of the path's flora stands out. This way, you will find species such as the mountain uveira or the laurel tree.

After traveling approximately 1600 meters along the path, you will reach the meeting point of two paths. On the right, the one that connects to Levada do Alecrim, on the left, the one that will take you to the majestic Lagoa do Vento.

This basin is formed by waters from Ribeira do Lajeado, which rush here from the top of the cliff. Take the opportunity to recover your energy to the sound of falling water. Then, you can return the opposite way along the path.

This vereda lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, is approximately 3.6 km (round trip), is of easy difficulty and is located in the municipality of Calheta.
